A PCR test to see if you have the virus.
A PCR test is a nucleic acid test that looks for the genetic code (RNA) of the virus. It will not confirm whether you have had it and have developed an immune response - there are other tests available for that (see our antibody test). It is the gold standard of testing and is 99.9% accurate.
A throat and nose swab sample is taken by one of our healthcare professionals at one of our nationwide clinics.
As fast as 23:59 the same day you take your PCR test if you choose a Same Day turnaround time. We also offer Overnight Results by 08:00 the next day after your test and Next Day Results by 18:00 the day after your test. All test samples are analysed 7 days a week and you’ll get your results as soon as they’re released.
Yes, children of any age can take a PCR test but we require children under the age of 18 to have parental consent. Please check your point of destination as different countries have different requirements for children.
Your test results will be sent to you securely by text and email including a PDF you can download. Your certificate will show your full name, date of birth, passport number (optional), date and time of test, and issue date. It will also be signed by our Medical Director, Dr. Jeremy Harris GMC: 3076541.
You must bring your booking confirmation email with you when you come for your test - you can show this on your phone. Please also bring your valid Passport or ID and make sure your name that you give us matches this document, as this will be on your certificate. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
We’re a leading UK government recognised provider of all private Covid-19 tests. Our tests are analysed at UKAS accredited labs that comply with ISO15189 and ISO17025 standards.
Yes, many of our clinics now offer rapid PCR tests with results within 3 hours. You can book an appointment here - please note, we cannot offer fast results with any home PCR tests.
PCR tests are helpful in screening for mild, asymptomatic or acute patients for the identification of a Covid-19 infection. You can use this test to confirm whether you have Covid-19 and will be given a doctor-signed certificate confirming your results. If you want to use this test for travel, we recommend buying the PCR Fit to Fly test instead, by clicking here.
This PCR test does not include a Fit to Fly specific certificate. If you require a PCR test for travel, please book one here.
Negative: You do not have any evidence of an active Covid-19 infection.
Positive: The virus that causes Covid-19 has been detected on your swab. As of 18 March, the UK no longer requires quarantine after a positive Covid-19 result. Note, most destination countries will still require a negative test result to fly.
Unclear: On rare occasions, it might not be possible to say if you had the virus when your test was done. In the event of this happening please contact us, quote your order number and we will arrange a retest.
